Company sizes

Our company sizes are based on the UK's legislative definition on company sizes.

Company size rules changed (from 6 April 2025)

Logic: Companies now meet both conditions (turnover and employees) in our checks.

New limits (old in brackets):

  • Micro: Turnover ≤ £1m (£632k) and Employees ≤ 10

  • Small: Turnover ≤ £15m (£10.2m) and Employees ≤ 50

  • Medium: Turnover ≤ £54m (£36m) and Employees ≤ 250

  • Large: Anything above the Medium caps (e.g. turnover ≥ £54m).

Action: Recheck your company sizes.

Here are our company size definitions:

Company Size Annual Turnover (£) Number of Employees
Micro Less than 1m Less than 10
Small Less than 15m Less than 50
Medium Less than 54m Less than 250
Large More than 54m More than 250

Our company sizes are based on the UK’s legislation definition on company sizes. We also have a category for no employees or turnover.

A given company must meet both conditions to be categorised accordingly. If a company meets only one condition, its company size categorisation will only increase when it meets both.

A company must have a registered postcode to be categorised into a company size bracket.
